Joyce M. (LoPresti) Paolozzi, 72, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Joyce leaves behind her beloved husband, Robert Paolozzi; her daughters, Kristen Lanni and Jamie Paolozzi (Derrick Scurry); her granddaughter, Payton Scurry; and her brother, Michael LoPresti and his wife, Meg.

She was born on April 1, 1947, in Providence, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Lena LoPresti (Petrella). Joyce was a longtime resident of Warwick and a devout parishioner of St. Benedict's Church. She was a woman of strong faith who had a true devotion to the Lord and attended mass regularly.

Joyce graduated from the University of Rhode Island, where she earned her bachelor’s degree and then her master’s degree in education. Her teaching career spanned 30 years. She taught at Oakland Beach Elementary, Warwick Neck Elementary and Hoxsie Elementary. Joyce loved her job and had a true passion and gift for teaching. Her kindness, patience and dedication to her students made an impact that lasted a lifetime. Upon retirement, Joyce spent her free time traveling to Europe with her loving husband, taking trips to Foxwoods casino, socializing with her close friends on lunch dates, watching her soap operas and following her favorite football team, the New England Patriots.

Joyce’s family was the center of her world, and she showed it by constantly doting on them. Being a “Grammy” was the highlight of her life; she cherished every memory made with her granddaughter, Payton. Joyce’s favorite time of year revolved around holidays, where she would joyfully decorate her home, cook homemade meals with love, and bake her famous pumpkin bread and Christmas cookies, all with Payton by her side. Joyce wanted nothing more than to spend quality time with her loved ones, gathered around the kitchen table together, eating, laughing and sharing stories. Joyce was so incredibly kind, always making people feel special and loved. She was the epitome of a loving, strong, selfless woman who will forever be remembered for how she touched the lives and hearts of all around her. Her beloved family and friends are forever blessed and grateful for the precious time they spent with her before the Lord called her home.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. from Thomas & Water Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Benedict Church, Beach Ave., at 11 am.
