Kathleen “Dee-Dee” (McMahon) Monahan, age 86, of Waterfront Drive, Warwick, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Ronald L. Monahan, Sr.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late William E. and Katherine M. (Sylvia) McMahon, she was a life-long Warwick resident. She attended Gorton High School in Warwick. Mrs. Monahan was employed by the State of Rhode Island at the Eleanor Slater Hospital in Cranston for 25 years, retiring in 2008. Earlier in her life she was employed at Coro Manufacturing. She was an officer of the former Monahan Television and Appliance store in Warwick, and was a former volunteer at the J. Arthur Trudeau Memorial Center.

She is survived by a son, Ronald L. Monahan, Jr. and his wife Rebecca Monahan, D.V.M., of Boulder, CO; a daughter, Shirley A. Monahan of Warwick; two sisters, Claire L. McMahon of Warwick and Jane F. Esposito of Providence; and a brother, Richard McMahon of Warwick. She was Nana to six grandchildren: Erin, Jill, Joseph, Jennie Rose, Fiona, and Riley; and five great-grandchildren: Jarin, Tori, Rees, Taylor, and Zachary. She was the mother of the late Susan M. Monahan Johnson, and the sister of the late Helen M. Palazzo, William E. McMahon, Jr., Alice H. O’Rourke, and Raymond McMahon.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, November 10, at 10 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Benedict Church, 135 Beach Avenue, Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited, and may visit at the funeral home on Saturday from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick.
