Kristina (Tina) L. Bishop, age 86, passed away on June 12, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the love of her life and husband of 66 years, Carl W. Bishop Sr.

She was born in Warwick to the late Enoch and Sybil Roun, where she attended Aldrich High School and built a beautiful life with her high school sweetheart. As a stay-at-home mother to her four children, Tina took on many roles: Cub Scouts leader, PTO president, and even the editor of the “RAP,” the Bishop family newspaper. With her green thumb, she cultivated gorgeous gardens and cared for the environment way ahead of her time.

Tina also took on many roles at Asbury United Methodist Church. She founded the Asbury UMC Women’s prayer group, sang in the choir, and was dubbed the “bread lady" for her 40-year role at the annual bazaar. Her note ministry, where she sent weekly notes to people who needed uplifting, leaves a legacy that touched more people than she ever realized. Along with home and church, Tina spread her love even further. She volunteered for 35 years at Rhode Island Hospital, using her gift of gab to comfort anyone in need. She spent countless holiday seasons baking her famous Swedish coffee bread and trays of Christmas cookies and then delivered them to all she knew. She truly spread the holiday cheer, door to door, year after year.

Together, Tina and Carl lived out their dream of retirement and visited every one of the 50 states. They traveled, camped, were avid birders, or “bird nerds,” and were present for many important milestones for all of their grandchildren. She loved walking and staying active, her Sunday pizza and cheap wine nights, crafting her “Grandmother Books” and dancing with her sweetheart. She was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother, and simply, there are not enough words to suffice how sorely she will be missed.

Aside from her husband she is survived by her sons, Carl Bishop Jr. (wife Barbara) and Eric Bishop (wife Annalisa); her daughter, Lynne Ferreira, son-in-law Rob George, and two friends of her children that became family, Ann Hendry-McLaughlin and Walter Day. She was a devoted grandmother to 11 grandchildren: Courtney Poirier, Mark George, Kate Chiu, Maggie Cullen, Aubrey Heller, Danika Hallam, Kelsey Whitham, Jonathan Bishop, Angela Bishop, Kirstin Legere and Zachary Ferreira, and also to her 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mabel Reed, brother Enoch Roun Jr., daughter Karen George and son-in-law Steven Ferreira.

A memorial service to honor her life will be held on Saturday, June 29 at 4 p.m. at Asbury Methodist Church in Warwick. Flowers and/or donations in Tina’s memory to Project Outreach would be greatly appreciated (info@projectoutreachri.org). Please visit www.barrettandcotter.com
