The annual Barbara M. Tuft's Co-operative Preschool's annual May Fair will be held on Sunday, May 7 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine. This year's theme is board games.

For the past 35 years, hundreds of teachers, parents, local business owners and members of the community have come together on the first Sunday in May to host this fundraiser.

The whole family will enjoy lots of fun and activities, including pony rides, a plant sale, face painting, raffle and silent auction, used toy and book sales, and much more, said Lisa Wesson, director of the preschool. The fair is held at Academy Field in East Greenwich.

“There is no admission fee, but tickets for one of these activities are one dollar,” said Wesson, “There will be live music, and plenty of good food provided by Texas Roadhouse.”

The Barbara M. Tufts Cooperative Preschool is an ecumenical venture of the East Greenwich faith communities. It was established to provide a developmentally appropriate nursery school experience with openness to the uniqueness of all children.

“Our school was founded in 1967 by Barbara Tufts,” said Wesson, “We are a non-profit, and all of the proceeds from this event go to providing scholarships for children in need, no one is ever turned away for financial reasons.”

“It’s hard to say exactly how much money we’ll raise, it varies year to year, but we are very excited and hope for the best,” said Wesson.
