On Monday, former school committee member, Democratic mayoral candidate, and Ward 6 Councilman Michael J. Brophy announced his endorsement of Sue Stenhouse for Mayor of Warwick.

“It is with great pride and pleasure that I announce my support of Sue Stenhouse for the office of Mayor of the City of Warwick. I have known Sue personally, professionally and politically for over 20 years. As a long time registered Democratic, former School Committee member, a former Democratic Council Person from Ward 6, and a former Democratic candidate for Mayor, I am sure my endorsement of Sue comes as a surprise to many. However, unlike the national scene, there are no real ideological differences, no partisan issues that separate the parties on the local level. Actually, if you close your eyes and just listen to a discussion of local issues, you really can’t tell the difference between a Democrat and a Republican when it comes to their concerns. What it really comes down to at the end of the day, is which candidate you think has the knowledge, the experience and the vision to lead our city.”

“Sue’s resume is the very definition of a public servant. She has a distinguished record of service in City and State government, as well as in the non-profit private sector. Her community involvement is genuine and exhaustive. Her passion to contribute is real and her ability to resolve issues and garner consensus is impressive.”

“I know that when I close my eyes and just listen to the candidates for Mayor of Warwick, I don’t see a Republican or a Democrat, I see Sue Stenhouse as the next Mayor of the City of Warwick,” said Brophy.

From day one, substance over political affiliation prevailed and I will always be grateful to Mike for his friendship and the role he played as my mentor in learning council procedures and protocols.”

Sue Stenhouse has also received endorsements from former Democratic Council President Donald Torres and from Deb Place, wife of former Democratic Council President Bruce Place. Stenhouse is running for the office of mayor against her Democratic challenger, Mayor Joe Solomon.
