Navigant Credit Union announced plans to expand its footprint statewide with the opening of its first branch locations in Kent County.

Navigant Credit Union will open two new branches, at 2100 Warwick Ave. and 2300 New London Turnpike in East Greenwich, both of which are former bank locations. Navigant Credit Union will be hiring more than 15 new employees to operate the two new branch locations.

With these two new branches – along with the addition of Navigant Credit Union's first Washington County location in Wakefield – Navigant Credit Union will now have 18 branches statewide.

"We couldn't be more excited to expand to both Washington County and Kent County, two areas where we've seen growing consumer demand for a Navigant Credit Union presence," said president and CEO Gary E. Furtado. "While other financial institutions are consolidating their footprints, we're strengthening our commitment to Rhode Island by investing in the right opportunities to grow and strengthen our brand."

Navigant Credit Union expects to open all three new locations by the end of the year.

Navigant Credit Union is Rhode Island's oldest credit union. With 81,000 members, Navigant Credit Union has more than $1.8 billion in assets and a strong presence throughout Blackstone Valley, northern Rhode Island and the East Bay.

Earlier this month, Navigant Credit Union announced plans to expand to Washington County through the spinoff of Chartway Federal Credit Union's Rhode Island assets, including its Wakefield branch, to Navigant Credit Union. That spinoff is subject to regulatory approval.

"We're looking forward to becoming active members of the Warwick, East Greenwich/Coventry and Wakefield communities, and working hard to earn the trust of all our new members," Furtado said. "We take our commitment to the communities we serve very seriously. We'll work hard to forge deep connections in our new communities, just as we've done in each city and town we've operated in for the last century."

Based in Smithfield, Navigant Credit Union is Rhode Island's oldest credit union. With more than $1.8 billion in assets, more than 81,000 members and 15 branches, Navigant Credit Union supports its members through access to products and services, conservative financial management and commitment to the communities where we operate.
