O’Rourke’s Bar & Grill Memorial Day celebrations planned all weekend long

Rhode Island has had a rocky spring thus far. Rain and clouds. Clouds and rain. Would it never end?

Somewhere, amidst the gloom of this New England season, a glimmer of warmth and sunshine have finally emerged to brighten our days. This glimmer of light comes from Warwick’s very own O’Rourke’s Bar & Grill, a place where diners come from across the region to enjoy the hospitality, food and ambiance of this local fan favorite restaurant. This family-friendly pub has been a mainstay in historic Pawtuxet Village since 2005 when it was restored to glory by Laurie O’Rourke and her late husband, Michael. Today, it stands as a reminder of Michael’s exuberant personality and the good old days when everyone gathered at neighborhood “watering holes” to share stories of life, to raise a glass and to celebrate life.

As the cool weather slowly begins to succumb to longer, sunnier days, guests of O’Rourke’s Bar & Grill find themselves gravitating more and more to its outdoor patio, with its casual picnic-style tables, shady umbrellas and pots of brightly colored flowers. Laurie O’Rourke spares no details when she opens the terrace for dining ~ it is welcoming, comfortable, and ever-so enticing!

While the outside seating provides the perfect perch on a clear day, what draws most customers to this village eatery is its consistently delicious food. The menu is replete with succulent burgers and steaks fresh off the grill, crisp summer salads, classic sandwiches such as their Corned Beef Reuben, and piles of indulgent appetizers. Some of the most desired items off the menu include their signature entrees of Shepherd’s Pie, Baked Scrod and their famous Guinness-battered Fish & Chips.

Come check out their new spring menu options! The chefs have been busy building their seasonal selections featuring their chunky Lobster Roll and many other popular summer dishes.

There are lots of other reasons to visit O’Rourke’s, including their Memorial Day weekend festivities. Come enjoy the live entertainment of several talented musicians from across the region. On Friday, May 24th at 9:00pm, “Clear Blue” is playing, followed by Matt Kearns on Friday the 25th at 8:30pm and pianist Rick Lauria (described as a mini-Billy Joel) on Sunday the 26th at 4:30pm on the patio. Top off your weekend celebrations with “Gooseberry Road” on Memorial Day, starting about 1:00pm.

Music. Wholesome, soul-satisfying food. Libations aplenty. Friends and family. Spring isn’t looking too bad after all!

Along with the downstairs bar and restaurant of O’Rourke’s, there is a beautiful private function room on the second floor ~ complete with views of sparkling Pawtuxet Cove. Call Laurie at 401-499-7601 to reserve Breffney’s for your special event.

O’Rourke’s Bar & Grill is located on 23 Peck Lane on the Cranston/Warwick city line. For more information, including hours, you can find them on their website at www.orourkesbarandgrill.com or at 401-228-7444. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram as Gaspee Days approach in the weeks ahead.
