Participants wanted for healthcare survey

Rhode Island’s health insurance marketplace, HealthSource RI (HSRI) and the Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) are working together to survey Rhode Island residents about their health insurance and health care usage. The state is conducting the 2018 Health Information Survey in partnership with Freedman Healthcare and Market Decision Research and urges all to Rhode Island residents to take part.

“The Health Information Survey provides critical information to evaluate progress toward Rhode Island’s goal of near universal coverage,” said John Cucco, Director of Strategy at HSRI. “Understanding state demographic data of the uninsured population and Rhode Islanders’ experience with all types of health insurance is necessary to address health care barriers for un-and underinsured populations.”

Privacy is a top priority of the state. Telephone numbers are selected at random and responses are confidential. Survey responses will not be combined with other information that could identify survey participants.

The Health Information Survey aims to provide the state with a better understanding of residents’ relationship to the health care system to help guide policy and decision-making. This is the fourth time Rhode Island has conducted a health information survey, the most recent survey completed in 2016. The survey is currently under way and will conclude this fall.

HSRI and EOHHS are asking all who are contacted to participate and support this important project. The Survey is conducted by phone and takes about 15 minutes to complete.

To gain the most accurate insights and ensure actionable data is received, the agencies need a diverse range of participants from all areas of the state. Past surveys have been used to track the un- and underinsured rate and evaluate access to and satisfaction of care. The results of the 2018 Health Information Survey will further these efforts and allow the state to advance its mission of improving the health for all Rhode Islanders.
