Pats take down Classical, notch first win of season

Wins haven’t been easy to come by in the early going for the Pilgrim girls’ basketball team, but they picked up a big one on Tuesday night.

Going up against defending Division II runner-up Classical, the Pats got 11 points from Katelyn Reph, 10 from Maddy Craik, eight from Betsy Heidel and six from Megan St. Jacques to down the Purple 39-34. Pilgrim built up an eight-point lead at the half and never looked back.

The victory was Pilgrim’s first of the season, league or non-league. The Pats are now 1-2 in D-II-Central, while Classical dropped to 1-3.

Pilgrim will be back in action on Friday at 0-3 Mt. Pleasant at 7 p.m.
