Pilgrim senior project to benefit kids seeking homes

Local students ranging in age from six years old to high school seniors will take to the stage at Pilgrim High School, located at 111 Pilgrim Parkway in Warwick, on Friday evening at 7 p.m. to support Jason Tuttle's senior project. This is a fundraiser for SOS Children's Villages USA, a charity chosen by Tuttle.

There will be musical performances as well as an appearance by Robert Baird, CEO of AT Cross and local Chairman of the Board for SOS.

Tuttle heard about SOS from his mom, Angela, who works with Baird, so she coordinated a meeting between the two and Jason loved the cause. After meeting with Baird to discuss SOS and learning more about the mission of SOS, Tuttle then traveled to Washington D.C. where he met with CEO of SOS, Lynn Croneberger.

Tuttle said he "Found it interesting" and decided his senior project would be a "Making a difference project, instead of a career project."

Tuttle has been organizing Friday evening's fundraising event for about two months and all proceeds will be donated to SOS Children's Villages USA. There will be tickets available at the door Friday evening. Children's tickets are $5.00 and adults are $10.00. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the program will last for about an hour, which will be filled with great music. Jason will also be performing.

All proceeds will be donated to SOS. Tuttle set a goal of $500.00 and hopes to surpass that amount. If you cannot attend Friday's event, please feel free to donate at team.sos-usa.org/JasonTuttle.

SOS was founded in 1949 and is a non-profit organization working with abandoned, orphaned and vulnerable children from over 135 countries who are in need of families. You can read more about SOS Children's Villages USA at their website www.sos-usa.org and they can also be found on Facebook.
