DUI
Just before 2 a.m. on Nov. 17, Officer Cody Wild was traveling on Post Road when he observed as black Nissan Sentra cross the white fog line before swerving back across the lane of travel and straddling the double-yellow lines.
Wild initiated a motor vehicle stop in the area of Post Road and Crest Avenue. When he made contact with the operator, he reports immediately detecting a “strong odor of an alcoholic beverage” emanating from the man’s breath. The operator is additionally said to have slurred his speech and exhibited bloodshot eyes.
The operator is said to have acknowledged consuming alcohol earlier in the evening and refused to submit to field sobriety testing.
Kaolin Bodi, 29, 57 Naughton Ave., Warwick, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. While at headquarters, he is said to have refused a chemical breath test.
Bodi was later released into the custody of a sober adult with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court on a charge of driving under the influence. He was additionally cited for refusal to submit to a chemical test and a laned roadway violation.

OBSTRUCTION
Shortly after 1 a.m. on Nov. 18, Officer Alfred J. Silveira was conducting a routine patrol in the area of Greenwich and East avenues when he observed a gold Honda Civic with darkly tinted, non-transparent rear windows.
Silveira initiated a motor vehicle stop on East Avenue in the area of Interstate 95 north. He made contact with the vehicle’s operator and sole passenger, who was said to be its owner. The operator was unable to provide a license but provided the officer with a name, which was tied to a suspended license through a records check. Initially, a citation was issued for driving with a suspended license, second offence.
However, according to Silveira, a subsequent inventory search of the vehicle revealed a Rhode Island identification card for the operator with his true identity. At that point, the operator had signed the citation issued to him under the false name. The operator is said to have acknowledged he did not have a license under his actual name.
Jonathon Perez, 21 Rowan St., Apt. 3, Providence, was arrested on charges of obstructing an officer in the execution of duty and operating without first obtaining a license. He was transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing and later released with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court. He was additionally cited for unlawful installation of sunscreen material.
The citation issued under the false name was voided.

WARRANTS
On Nov. 17 at 5:53 a.m., Officer Brenen J. Cardoza responded to a reported disturbance in the Gateway Plaza at 1600 Warwick Ave. Dispatch advised that a man was clearing the parking lot with a leaf blower despite warnings against beginning that work so early in the morning.
At the scene, Cardoza found the man shoveling leaves and operating a leaf blower. The man is said to have told Cardoza he was aware of the city’s noise ordinance but wanted to complete the parking lot work so he could tend to other responsibilities.
Cardoza reports that a subsequent records check found the man was wanted on two active bench warrants issued from Third Division District Court.
Gerard R. Therrien Jr., 61, 375 Parkside Drive, Warwick, was taken into custody on the warrants and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. He was later taken to the Adult Correctional Institutions to await a court appearance.

Shortly after 8 p.m. on Nov. 19, Officer William R. Hole responded to the Dollar Tree at 1800 Post Road following a request from staff to eject a person from the premises. Dispatch described the person as a woman wearing a blue sweatshirt and indicated she had threatened staff with a candy cane.
At the scene, Hole and other officers were directed to the woman’s location in the back corner of the store. She was then escorted outside, where she initially refused to provide identification.
Hole reports the woman eventually provided officers with her name, and a records check revealed she was wanted on an active bench warrant issued from Sixth Division District Court.
Sarah E. Dean, 29, 1 Nicholas Brown Yards, Providence, was taken into custody on the warrant and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. She was later taken to the Adult Correctional Institutions pending a court appearance.
