Mayor Scott Avedisian and Colonel Stephen McCartney will join the Board of Public Safety and the Warwick Police Department tonight to celebrate the promotion of one officer and the swearing-in of four others at 6 p.m. in the Community Room at Warwick Police Headquarters, 99 Veterans Memorial Drive.
Colonel McCartney and Mayor Avedisian will both offer brief remarks.
Officer John Curley, a seven-year veteran with the Warwick Police Department, will be promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Officer Curley previously worked in the Patrol and Traffic Unit, as well as the Community Services Division. Additionally, the oath of office will be administered to Justin N. Martin, Randy S. Bell, Jonathan P. Byrne and Karen M. Haarr. They will be sworn in as probationary officers.
Father Robert Marciano, the chaplain of the Warwick Police Department, will offer both the invocation and benediction.
