The East Greenwich Animal Protection League threw their second annual Puppy Bowl party on Sunday to help raise awareness about adopting dogs in need of homes, to raise money for the shelter and to provide a stress relieving dose of cuteness ahead of what was likely a stressful occasion for diehard Patriots fans. The party streams the Animal Planet Puppy Bowl on a projector while the adoptable puppies play, to the delight of onlookers. Goose, who was adopted from the shelter and featured on the internationally televised show, is pictured here with his adoptive dad, Stephen Cocce.

ILLEGAL USE OF THE TEETH: Two puppies showed some competitive spirit during the Puppy Bowl, despite there being no real rules or ways to score any points - outside of being cute, that is.

SUPER MOM: Leslie Summer wrangles one of the puppies during the East Greenwich Animal Protection League's Puppy Bowl. Summer is actually fostering 11 of the puppies in her own home, which also has other dogs she has fully adopted.

KEEPING THEM CONTAINED: Victoria Minicucci, a shelter volunteer, had the enviable role of a referee, which basically meant she got to cuddle the puppies that tried to escape from the turf field enclosure in the heat of their playing.
