Rep. Camille F.J. Vella-Wilkinson (D-Dist. 21, Warwick), along with House Majority Leader K. Joseph Shekarchi (D-Dist. 23, Warwick) and General Treasurer Seth Magaziner, will be holding an unclaimed property informational event on Tuesday, Oct. 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Pilgrim Senior Center in Warwick.

"There are many Rhode Islanders who can reclaim their lost or abandoned property," said Representative Vella-Wilkinson. "This event is a good way for Warwick residents to learn about unclaimed property and understand the system in place to retrieve what may be rightfully theirs."

Shekarchi and Vella-Wilkinson, along with Treasurer Magaziner will have a list of all the unclaimed property under state care that is listed for Warwick residents and they will detail how the residents can claim their property.

"I urge all Warwick residents who are interested in unclaimed property to come to this event and learn about the process and how it may affect you, as well as your friends and family," said Shekarchi.

Unclaimed property consists of money and other assets that are considered lost or abandoned after an owner cannot be located for a specific period of time. It includes bank accounts, stocks and dividends, wages, refunds, safe deposit boxes, insurance payments, gift certificates, credit memos and account receivable credits and payables.

I have never experienced this. Our elected officials putting all this extra effort to get money back in the hands of their owners. They're not getting a penny more in their paychecks by doing this either. I applaud their efforts. This is a true display of leadership.

Happy Autumn Camille, Joe, and Seth.

    Happy Autumn everyone.

    Dear Justanidiot,

I was referring to the event at Pilgrim Senior Center. I have read the Providence Journal ad every year. My name still isn't listed.

Take good care Justanidiot. Always great to hear from you.

    Rick ,

Your name is not on the unclaimed property list. It is however, on the UNPAID TAXES list.
