Republicans invited to Thursday open house

The Republican City Committee invites all Warwick residents interested in civic involvement to an “open house” Thursday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. They will meet at The Coffee Grinder 2.0 located in the Governor Francis Shopping Center, 961 Namquid Drive.

If you were an active member of the WRCC and would like to meet others dedicated to community service, charitable works and scholarship, this will be a great opportunity to be part of an organization who’s new mission statement will include these tenants, according to a release..

The Warwick GOP will also assist, advance and endorse candidates that wish to enter public service as Republicans. Informing membership on policy, programs and the “goings on” in Warwick politics will also be important to the Warwick GOP as an education and information resource.

“We would like to create a group dedicated to doing more than just coming out every two years to build up Republicans and beat down Democrats. That does not help anyone,” said Rick Cascella, the current Warwick GOP Chair.

This past election cycle saw the exodus of key members of the Executive Committee. The current Executive Committee is charged with reorganizing and presenting delegates to the State Committee meeting as a new chair will be seated in March. This, among other things, will be discussed as part of a brief speaking program.

Cascella says, “This is more a social event than a political rally. It is important for the Warwick GOP to reconnect with its past membership and welcome new members to the group. There is no obligation to join.”

“Most candidates for public office, whether a Democrat, Republican or independent, want what is best for their communities,” Cascella continued. “What makes them unique is how they would govern, formulate goals and administer policy. Warwick is currently led by members of the Democrat Party. I think it is important to offer more choice in the ballot box. I hope in the future we can create more politically diverse ballot.”
