Richard B. “Duke” Mead, Jr., 69, a retired receiver for the former Almacs Supermarkets and Dave’s Market, passed away Monday, August 21, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Providence, he was the beloved son of Nancy M. (Kilkenny) Mead and the late Richard B. Mead, Sr. Richard was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He enjoyed going to Patriot and Red Sox games and playing pool with family and friends.
Richard was the loving brother of Robert Mead (Jane), David Mead (Gina), Denise Miller (Larry), Donna O’Rourke (John), and Barbara Trudeau (Don). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
His funeral will be held Friday, August 25, 2017 at 10 a.m. from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Avenue, Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Timothy Church, Warwick Ave., Warwick. Burial with military honors in the Rhode Island Veterans’ Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m.
