Richard T. “Dick” Hastings Jr., age 75, of Scituate, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2019 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Carol A. (Davis) Hastings. They were married for 54 years.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Richard T. and Gertrude M. (Pihlkrantz) Hastings, he was a lifelong Warwick resident before moving to Scituate in 1991. Dick was employed as a terminal operator in Providence for Texaco and later Motiva and Shell Oil for 42 years, retiring in 2007. He also served as president of the Texaco union. He was a member of the National Street Rod Association.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Richard C. Hastings and his wife, Lynn, of Overland Park, Kansas; a daughter, Rhonda L. Hastings of Warwick; four grandchildren, Matthew F. Hastings, Thomas R. Hastings, Julie M. Hastings and Chloe Hastings; a sister, Deborah A. Smith and her husband, Brian, of Warwick; and two brothers, Michael L. Hastings and his wife, Brenda, of Warwick and Robert J. Hastings, and his wife, Merrilee, of Warwick. He was the brother of the late Claudia R. Bryson.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 11, at 10 a.m. in Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, Dec. 10 from 4-7 p.m. Burial will be in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick.
