The Short Bowel Syndrome Foundation for Children of New England, Inc. (SBSNE, Inc.), a non-profit charitable organization created to provide family support for children afflicted with gastrointestinal conditions, birth defects and diseases that have led to Short Bowel Syndrome (SBS) and their healthcare providers will host a 5K run/walk in Roger Williams Park this month. All proceeds will benefit SBSNE Inc.’s goal of establishing a Nutritional Support Program for their children’s nutrition costs.
“Ultimately, we would love to help at least 20 families nationwide with a monthly stipend for one year. With your help and participation, SBSNE, Inc. will have the opportunity to provide families with stipends to go towards their child's nutrition [whether it be organic foods, tube feed, vitamins, electrolyte solutions, etc.],” the organization explains on the event page. “This stipend will be in the form of a gift card, which we hope to offer on a monthly basis.”
The event will be held on June 24 in the Carousel Village at Roger Williams Park at 1000 Elmwood Avenue in Providence. Event registration begins at 8:30 a.m., a kids fun run will kick off at 9 a.m., and the 5K run/walk will start at 10 a.m.
