Pvt. Richard L. Bateman V, 19, of Warwick, graduated from the United States Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina on Jan. 4, 2019. Pvt. Bateman successfully completed 13 weeks of intensive basic training including Marine Corps core values, physical fitness, Marine Corps discipline and studies, martial arts and warfare principles and skills at MCRD Parris Island as one of 80 recruits in Training Platoon 1004 of Charlie Co. While in recruit training, Pvt. Bateman qualified as a sharpshooter. Following 10 days home on leave, he will report to Camp Geiger in North Carolina for one month at Marine Combat Training, then 12 months Military Occupation Specialty School in Pensacola, Florida. Pvt. Bateman will receive his orders for his primary duty station following training. Pvt. Bateman is a 2017 graduate of Pilgrim High School and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard L. Bateman IV of Warwick.
