With Valentine’s Day on Thursday, it’s no wonder that hearts are a theme for student art classes across the city. That’s the case too at Hoxsie School, where students are crafting valentines for staff and faculty members. But this is not a class activity, but rather the after school art club started by art teacher Ashley Potter. The club meets on Mondays and the kids get to pick the projects they would like to work on. In addition to valentines they are doing “doodle Googles” that they will submit to Google in hopes of being chosen as a screen illustration for the Internet browser. If chosen, Potter said, the selection carries scholarship funds.
