It’s the law

John Brown Francis third and fourth graders were full of questions when Senate Majority Leader Michael McCaffrey told them it’s the law that they wear helmets when bicycling until the age of 15. Would they get ticketed; would police take away their bikes; why does the law only apply to children? McCaffrey had plenty of answers as well as free helmets for the students. The free helmets are part of a longstanding Rhode Island Association of Justice program to promote safety. The association annually gives out 400 helmets. Fitting students with their helmets are attorney Ashley Hornstein, attorney Henry Monti, Isabelle Paiva and McCaffrey. (Warwick Beacon photo)
