More than 600 people attended the New England Library Association 2018 Conference at the Crowne Plaza that came to a close Tuesday after an address by Loida Garcia-Febo, president of the American Library Association. “Welcome, the library is your space,” the theme of the three-day conference, offered workshops and panel discussions on a range of topics from teen volunteers at libraries to teaching seniors how to use smartphones, programs in the library as well as in the community and reaching veterans. The group also had some fun such as Yoga Laughter and contests that required interaction and meeting one another. The conference provided education, training and the opportunity for librarians to share ideas. Vendors offered attendees the chance to explore programs, services and equipment aimed at improving library outreach and services…all part of the “welcome” theme. Seen outside one of the workshops from left are Kieran Ayton, president of the Rhode Island Library Association; director of Warwick libraries Christopher LaRoux; and Susan Edmonds, conference chair and incoming president of the New England Association. shhhhh,
Libraries are dead. They have become defacto homeless shelters and drug dens. If you can't find it on Amazon, you don't really need it.

I spend half my life in libraries. I love them and use them on a weekly basis. I hope we don't see them going away anytime soon.

Google and Amazon are going to outlaw libraries in the next five years or so.
