National Night Out, celebrated Tuesday at Oakland Beach Commons, has become a Warwick tradition thanks to the efforts of Warwick Police, Target and Warwick City Councilwoman Donna Travis.

Tuesday’s event – the city’s 33rd – included a variety of demonstrations from the use of the Jaws of Life by firefighters to peel apart a car to the Warwick K-9 team. The biggest bang of the night came with a fireworks display ending about 9:30. There was plenty of free food and beverages and as intended, children and families were in abundance. The mission of the celebration is to bring the community and its law enforcement agencies together.

Thirty three years of unselfish dedication to this event alone! Donna Travis is the best there is.

Warwick is lucky she lives here.

Free food - free entertainment - free admission. All because 33 years ago Donna Travis said "We're doing it!"

Much like your cousin Donna, you both believe that tax delinquency is acceptable.
