More than 230 people gathered Friday night at the Crowne Plaza to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Ocean State Center for Independent Living, a Warwick-based non-profit that has assisted 60,000 people with disabilities in the course of its history.
During the full 30 years, Lorna Ricci has run the agency that has grown and now also has offices in Pawtucket. It is the state’s only independent living center. During the celebration Friday, Ricci was the recipient of a surprise award recognizing her commitment to providing access to those with disabilities and to sustaining OSCIL for three decades. Congressman Jim Langevin, keynote speaker, was also honored for his efforts on behalf of OSCIL.
Here the pair shares the spotlight before the band started playing and the partying started.
