AT&T recently granted $2,000 to the Volunteers of Warwick Schools in support of their Heads Up Program, a series of ten, weekly half hour activities designed by a curriculum consultant to bring age appropriate bullying awareness to students. The program is presented in all of Warwick’s 16 elementary schools. Program volunteers include parents, grandparents, community members and high school students. According to the VOWS grant application, the goal of the program is to empower our second grade students with respect, empathy, self-awareness, problem solving, conflict resolution, and violence and bullying prevention skills in order to help them get along well with others and be a good citizen in their school, on their playgrounds and in their neighborhoods.
