The Toll Gate Girls Soccer team started off the season Saturday with a car wash at the dental offices of Dr. Kenneth Rudman in Apponaug. The girls had a steady stream of cars to work on, although there was enough time to let the spray get out of hand and toss soap-foamed sponges. Such moments of cooling down may be just what’s needed this week – hell week – as the 39-member team undergoes intensive training at City Park. Daily practice sessions will be held in the morning and afternoon. The first games of the season will be played Sept. 3 in Middletown. The car wash generally raises $2,000, which goes into supporting team activities.
