For those home and business owners interested in solar power, but not sure how to go about it, Solarize Warwick is hosting an informational meeting, Solar 101, on November 18 at the Pilgrim Senior Center beginning at 7 p.m.
Warwick was chosen as one of the cities for Solarize Rhode Island’s 2015 Fall Round. The program, created through a partnership between the Office of Energy Resources, Commerce RI and Smart Power, uses the power of group buying and community outreach to encourage home and business hours to adopt solar power
Warwick has already begun signing up residents and business owners as of the end of October.
Warwick has partnered with SolarFlair, a solar installation company based out of Massachusetts, for the community campaign.
The program, which has been successful in more than 100 communities across New England, reduces the cost of solar installation by using a competitive installer, a tiered pricing system, which reduces costs across the board the more people sign contracts, and community based marketing as well as an end date to encourage participation.
“We are thrilled to be participants in this next round of Solarize Rhode Island,” said Mayor Scott Avedisian. “Warwick has been a leader in the effort to protect, preserve and restore our natural resources. By participating in the Solarize program it is my hope that we continue to increase our energy efficiency, and utilize clean energy technologies. I’m excited to discover all the economic and environmental benefits of solar energy.”
Solar 101 will let residents meet the installer and learn more about the systems and pricing. Questions are welcomed and those in attendance will be able to sign up at the meeting.
The public information will be on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at the Pilgrim Senior Center beginning at 7 p.m.
