In recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, St. Mary’s Home for Children is honoring Shriners of RI Charities Trust and a group of volunteers, The DAMES for their contributions to children. On Thursday, April 26, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Café Nuovo, the Children’s Friendship Award will be presented. The Children’s Friendship Award is presented to an individual or company that has displayed unending dedication to the well-being of children. The recipient has demonstrated kind acts of philanthropy and volunteerism to honor the mission of St. Mary’s Home for Children.

The Shriners of RI Charities Trust has been a longtime supporter of the agency and provides opportunities for children in our state. The DAMES (Dinner and More Exciting Surprises) is comprised of six professional women who work with St. Mary’s Hills House, a group of eight teen girls, providing mentorship while hosting dinners and activities.

Alison Bologna of Shri Yoga is emcee of the event. Shri Yoga provides yoga to our clients and staff on a weekly basis. The event is sponsored by Navigant Credit Union.

Tickets for the evening which includes hors d’oeuvres are $90 per person (cash bar). Multiple sponsorship opportunities are available. For information, please call Susan DeRita, Development Officer, 353-3900 x262, sderita@smhfc.org or visit www.smhfc.org
