The Salve Regina University women’s track team captured its second consecutive Commonwealth Coast Conference Invitational title on Saturday in Portsmouth, and freshman and former Pilgrim standout Madison Stanley was a main reason why.
Stanley captured three individual titles and ran legs on two winning relays to lead the Seahawks to a slim, three-and-a-half-point victory over second-place Roger Williams University.
She won the 100-meter dash in a time of 13.23 seconds, and she also placed first in the 200-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 27.07 seconds.
Stanley went on to earn gold in the triple jump with a leap of 36 feet, 5.5 inches, and her tremendous speed also helped the Salve 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams to victory.
Stanley and the Seahawks will be back in action on Friday for the New England Division III Championships at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
