Stenhouse to launch campaign for mayor at Aug. 14 event

Posted

Mayoral candidate Sue Stenhouse will hold the first fundraiser for her campaign on Tuesday, August 14, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Chelo’s Hometown Bar & Grille at 2225 Post Road in Warwick.  “I’m delighted to launch my campaign and am looking forward to meeting Warwick residents and talking with them about the issues important to our city,” Stenhouse said.  The sole Republican running for Warwick mayor in the November election, Stenhouse will face the winner of the September 12 Democratic primary.

Stenhouse is a long-time Warwick resident and former City Council member. She has been a strong advocate for education, business development, the environment and senior services.

“I am honored and encouraged by the support I am receiving from both sides of the aisle and am very much looking forward to a robust and productive campaign,” Stenhouse said.  The Tuesday event is open to the public and donations in the form of checks or credit cards may be made at the door.

She is a very strong advocate for seniors. She will turn you into an honorary senior with a wig and a blue grandma coat. But only if the tv crews are nearby.

Also, I think a Corrente-Stenhouse race would be a hoot.

    Dear Sue Stenhouse,

    Welcome.

No one knows better than me what kind of challenge you are undertaking. I respect your commitment and look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail. Please feel free to call me at 401-338-9900. Although we represent opposite parties, it's clear to me that you love this city as much as I do.

    Take good care.

Ms. Stenhouse, the best thing you can do is stay away from the make-believe mayor, especially because of delusional statements like this:

"No one knows better than me what kind of challenge you are undertaking."

The make-believe mayor was not elected to the city council.

He was not elected secretary of state.

He does not have the support of his own party.

He has no experience working on statewide issues.

And so when he says he knows the challenge you face, he is incorrectly projecting on you the difficulty he has caused his own candidacy through the many false statements and campaign slogans he has repeated on this website for four years.

While it is certain that the incident at the Cranston Senior Center will be brought up during this race, it was one event, whereas the make-believe mayor has made a constant disgrace of himself.

Honest, taxpaying voters will again reject the make-believe mayor's candidacy on Sept. 12.

If Stenhouse owns the Cranston Senior Center issue out front I believe it can limit the damage. However, that is the kind of story that voters do not forget and I think thats unfortunate for her before she ever gets an idea out. I am willing to hear her out on several issues, I'm not so sure every voter will be giving her that courtesy.

I agree with Crickee, unless Sue Stenhouse wants a lesson in how to burn $40,000 and lose an election 65%-35% I would suggest she ignores Rick Corrente. Rick Correntes challenge is greater than that of Sue Stenhouse because he has $34 in the bank. He claims he has all of this support that has "changed" legislation yet not one member of the Council has EVER suggested he's had ANY impact on ANYTHING in city government. Let me ask folks a common sense question: If a losing candidate had the power to change legislation would they only receive 35% of the vote? Would they only have $34 in the bank this election after running for almost 4 years now? Correntes ideas don't pass the laugh test. He is a pandering idiot that would bankrupt this city within a decade.

Warwick can't afford to lose city hall to foreclosure like Rick Corrente lost his East Greenwich office condo. Warwick cannot default on payments or get taken to court and lose a dozen times like Rick Corrente has. Facts are facts and Rick Corrente is not a taxpayers mayor, he is a tax delinquents Mayor who will lie, say anything or smear anyone to get elected. Look no further than his unraveling campaign and the $34 in the bank. My 8 year old nephew has more money in the bank than the Corrente campaign. Pathetic. Its not just "political insiders" that aren't donating to the Corrente campaign NOBODY is donating to this trainwreck or a campaign. I join thousands of honest, hard-working, REAL taxpayers who will vote against this clown on the local stage.

    Dear Scal1024,

You don't understand. Let me explain so even you will agree.

I campaigned for over 700 days in a row, spent over $40,000 of my own money and rallied the 80,000 taxpayers that are paying the tab. That was MY doing Scal! MY taxpayers spoke to their council-people LOUDLY. The courageous council then voted against Avedisian's 29 new tax-increasing amendments. I spoke to every member of the City Council. EVERY one of them mentioned me and my campaign as a contributing factor. Don't you remember Scal? You tried to discredit me for spending so much, just like you're trying to discredit me now for spending so little. ( I already had a ton of signs.)The fact of the matter is, I have NEVER accepted a PAC donation. (Political Action Committee). There has NEVER been one PAC donation EVER given to ANY CANDIDATE that didn't have strings attached. Scal, just admit it. You're a henchman for Joe Solomon. Maybe a paid one. Maybe not, but an anonymous henchman nonetheless. I have had over one hundred signs stolen by Rob Cote (he's admitted to stealing over 40) and others (maybe you). I noticed that Joe Solomon hasn't had any signs stolen. Can you explain that you anonymous coward? Then tell us why you haven't said a word about Joe Solomon's LARGEST TAX HIKE ALLOWED BY LAW. How come you're not outraged about that? Huh Scal?

Fake news. Fake sources. Fake people. Fake names.

    Happy August everyone.

Scal, keep up your good work in drawing out the make-believe mayor and proving that he lacks any restraint in his ongoing attempt to humiliate himself with another failed campaign.

No matter how many times it is explained that Mayor Avedisian didn't propose "29 new tax-increasing amendments," he keeps repeating this lie.

He's a disgrace of a candidate, and provides more proof with every new comment.

OK, I hate to be that person but whatever. If you rallied 80,000 taxpayers, why didn't you have 80,000 votes and win against Avedisian? If you made such an impact, wouldn't you be Mayor by now? AND if you had all the city council members mention you by name, why aren't they supporting your campaign? Why aren't they standing up and shouting "VOTE FOR CORRENTE. HE IS THE ONE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TAX CUTS (not really a tax cut but I digress).

Answer: None of that ever happened

    Dear Cat2222,

You say that you "hate to be that person", but be honest. You LOVE being that person.

You can't understand how IF I rallied the "80,000 taxpayers that are paying the tab", why I didn't get 80,000 votes? Are you kidding? Not everyone votes Cat2222! I DID receive a very respectful 14,000+ votes when my critics only predicted 3,000, and if everyone votes in the Democratic Primary I will be elected easily, but you know as well as I do, primary elections are not as heavily attended as regular elections. As far as the City Council, they ALL speak highly of me but they are ALL Democrats and Joe Solomon is the Endorsed Democrat so naturally they need to openly support him but Cat2222, when a voter goes into the voting booth it's just the voter and his/her God. No party loyalty there. If the voter wants taxes to go up Solomon will get the vote. If not, Corrente will. We used to be a society of Democrats and Republicans. We are now evolving into a society of "taxpayers" and "political insiders". I'll bet you are in that second group, aren't you.

The fact is...I campaigned for 700 days in a row. The fact is... I spent over $40,000 of my own money. The fact is...I rallied the 80,000 taxpayers who are paying the tab, and they spoke LOUDLY to their City Council members, and when Avedisian tried to slap the taxpayers with 29 new taxes, the courageous City Council told him "NO!!". I did that. You don't have to give me credit for it. You can call it just one big massive coincidence that hadn't happened ONCE THIS CENTURY but my taxpayers know better. They credit me EVERY DAY. I DID THAT. I see them everywhere I go. Parking lots, supermarkets, intersections, etc. and they are constantly calling out to me "You got MY vote!". I'm convinced that if every voter came out, I will be the next Mayor. Sadly, not every voter comes out for the primary. We'll see.

As far as that juvenile comparison to "Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory", it was just that, juvenile, but I did enjoy that movie and Gene Wilder was fantastic in the part. Thanks for bringing back that pleasant memory.

    Happy August everyone.
