When play started two weeks ago for Continental American Little League, it was more like winter endurance training than spring ball. It was raw and cold. Coats were required and parents who turned out were wearing gloves and they weren’t fielding balls.
But then came along opening day on Saturday and the weather was cooperative, even though a few still wore their coats. Most of the kids who were primed to get down to playing ball. There were a few preliminaries, however, including remarks from officials and the ceremonial first pitch. Team and individual photographs were to be taken and then, of course, games to be played. According to the league website there’s a full schedule of play through June 23.
