Gamm Theatre presented Harold Pinter’s “The Homecoming,” directed by Judith Swift and starring a young Tony Estrella.

The Academy Players did Henry Miller’s “All My Sons.”

Trinity Rep had Shakespeare’s “As You Like It,” directed by Oskar Eustis.

The original Warwick Mall Cinema closed.

40 Years Ago

Alvaro Casuto conducted the Rhode Island Philharmonic.

The Avon was showing “Bread and Chocolate.”

The Showcase had the frightening film about New York gangs, The Warriors, which was banned in some cities. They also had The Great Train Robbery with Donald Sutherland and Sean Connery and Same Time Next Year starring Alan Alda and Ellen Burstyn.

Trinity was doing Clifford Oates’ “Awake and Sing,” starring Richard Jenkins, Barbara Orson, Dan Butler and Amy Von Norstrand.

Barker, “America’s Oldest Little Theatre,” was presenting Emlyn Williams’ “Someone Waiting” starring Joseph Riker, Walter Covell and Hope Martin.

Remember the old Bagpiper Restaurant in East Providence? They had a scallop dinner for $3.95.
