Jeff Bridges starred in “Arlington Road.” Jason Biggs was one of the teenage stars of the disgusting “American Pie” about four teenagers out to lose their virginity. Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman had a steamy sex scene in “Eyes Wide Shut.” Liam Neeson starred in the scary “The Haunting.”
The 2nd Annual North Kingston Arts Festival featured Sparky’s Puppets, storyteller Mark Levitt and magician Bruce Kalver.

The Wickford Art Festival was in its 18th year.
The Swingle Singers kicked off the Newport Music Festival.
Hoffman’s Steak House, across from Newport Jai Lai, was offering an 8 oz. steak dinner with salad bar for $3.50.
Joyce and I stood in the pouring rain at the Newport Jazz Festival to hear Maynard Ferguson close the 25th anniversary of jazz in Newport.
We traveled to Boston’s Symphony Hall to hear guest conductor Mitch Miller conduct the Pops. Second balcony seats were $3.50.
Engelbert opened the Warwick Musical Theatre’s 25th season, but he did it at the Ocean State Performing Arts Center.
Newport Sea Concerts at Fort Adams featured James Taylor, Gordon Lightfoot, Jonathan Edwards, Cheryl Wheeler, Judy Collins and Livingston Taylor Those were the days!
Tommy Brent gave us a great production of “Man of La Mancha” at Theatre-by-the-Sea.
George Burns played an aging vaudeville star in “Just You and Me, Kid.”
Trinity Summer Rep presented “Same Time, Next Year” starring Richard Jenkins and Margo Skinner, with George Martin directing.
I couldn’t use my tickets to a Judy Collins concert in Newport because there weren’t any gas stations open on Sunday due to the gas crisis.
Mitzi Gaynor was at WMT and Bad Company was at the Providence Civic Center (tickets were $8.50 and $9.50).
