To the Editor:
Speaker Mattiello and your NRA colleagues did you hear the warning shots from California – another senseless and tragic domestic violence massacre. Two adults and a child are dead and a child is in serious condition because an offender had access to weapons. Your negligence in allowing legislation to sit in committee for four years, which could prevent these tragedies, is unconscionable. It’s time for you to act with care, compassion and accountability. It’s time for you to value human life over NRA ratings and money.
House Bill-5510 and Senate Bill-0405 are critical in preventing domestic abusers from killing their partners and innocent bystanders. The devastation to families and communities that are a result of domestic violence can never be reconciled and undone. These bills will save the lives of innocents and may also prevent a mass shooting from occurring in our state. If you again deny these bills a vote you will be a co-conspirator in human tragedy. It’s time for you and our representatives to act ethically, rationally and compassionately.

Hey Tom, Chicago has some of the toughest gun laws in the country, how's that working out?

No bill will stop a mass shooting from occurring anywhere. There is no such magic.
