Assistant Sports Editor Bishop Hendricken took home Class A honors and Pilgrim girls’ track claimed Class B in their respective championships this weekend.

The Hawks easily won Class A with a total of 128 points, beating out second-place North Kingstown by 27.

Derek Magno took first in the javelin throw with a distance of 145 feet, 11 inches, besting Coventry’s Dan McBride by more than two feet.

Michael Bittner’s high jump of six feet was good for first place in that event, while Kwity Paye won the long jump with a distance of 21 feet, five inches.

Jon Celico’s 13-foot pole vault beat North Kingstown’s Thorin Cardente by six inches for first place as well.

Ethan Famiano grabbed second in the 110 high hurdles and third in the 300 intermediate hurdles. Dominic Parlato got on the podium as well with a third-place finish in the 3000-meter event.

The Hawks also took second place in both the 4x400 and 4x800 relays.

As for Pilgrim, its margin of victory was much slimmer. The Pats just edged Barrington by a half-point to win Class B.

Kayda Phillip claimed first in the long jump with a distance of 16 feet, nine inches, and followed up with a win in the triple jump. Emma Landroche helped the Pats as well with first-place finishes in the 100-meter and 200-meter events.

Danika Wayss took third in the 3000-meter before the Pilgrim 4x100 relay team of Landroche, Phillip, Madison Stanley and Nicole Morales finished one-tenth of a second in front of Westerly for first place.
