(Seniors rule the basketball court)

The young folks at the Saturday matinee seemed to enjoy this silly, predictable comedy about a bunch of elderly basketball players who vie for the Harlem outdoor basketball championship. Joyce wisely skipped this one, as I suffered through a dragged out backstory, lame jokes about old folks, and the BIG GAME.

Guess who wins!

The Celtics' Kyrie Irving, with nothing to do after being sidelined with injuries, stars as Uncle Drew, the former basketball player who gathers up four of his former mates and takes on the younger teams in the tournament. Actually, Irving is a decent actor.

In the BIG GAME, he goes up against his rival (Nick Kroll), who has stolen his girl and is one of the most obnoxious men ever on screen. Lil Rel Howery is good as the manager/coach who is too short to compete with the big guys and also lives with the memory of losing a big game at the buzzer. Can you see what's coming?

Irving, Shaquille O'Neal, Nate Robinson, Chris Webber and Reggie Miller look a bit silly in the heavy makeup, but do their best to look and act like old men. By NBA standards, they are old.

There are a few funny moments and a sentimental love story, but this one is aimed at young, die-hard basketball fans.

Rated PG-13, with profanity and a shot of O'Neal's bare behind.
