With October 15 beginning the open enrollment period for Medicare health and drug plans for individuals to make changes to coverage for the upcoming year, United Way of Rhode Island (UWRI) has scheduled Saturday events at its 50 Valley Street headquarters in Providence to provide assistance to those seeking help enrolling. The open enrollment period runs through December 7, and each enrollment event will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
At the open enrollment events, trained navigators will be available to meet one-on-one and confidentially with individuals to answer questions about coverage and plan options, and to provide assistance with enrollment. The events are free, but those interested in attending are asked to make an appointment in advance by calling THE POINT at 464-4444 or 2-1-1.
In addition to the Saturday open enrollment events at UWRI’s office, the organization has worked with its community partners across Providence to schedule a series of events on weekdays through November. Information on these events, along with making an appointment, can also be found by calling THE POINT at 464-4444 or 2-1-1.
Those attending an event are asked to bring the following documents and information to aid in the enrollment process: identification; Medicare card and any other health insurance cards; and a list of prescription drugs you are currently taking.
