MISSING MONEY BAG

On July 19, Officer Brian Murray was dispatched to the Crowne Plaza for a report of larceny of money. Murray met with a woman who was working a stand for a Corvette show, who said that day around 1:50 p.m. she noticed a black money bag missing from her stand. She said the bag had between $600 and $750 in it and it was last seen around 1:30 p.m. The bag was under a box on the stand at the time of the larceny. No suspects. No video surveillance.

COPPER PIPE THEFT

On July 18 at 1:21 p.m., Officer Tomas Bogusz was dispatched to 46 Sprague Ave. for a report of a copper larceny.

Upon arrival, Bogusz met with the reporting party, who said he and his partner arrived that day to discover somebody had broken into the house at that address, which is currently for sale, and stolen copper piping from the downstairs bathroom, laundry room, and water meter area in the basement. The suspect also caused damage to the interior wall of the house.

The man said on July 17, there was an open house from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and several subjects came and walked inside the house.

Bogusz said the point of entry was determined to be the back window. A detective responded to the scene and processed the window for fingerprints.

WILLFUL TRESPASS

On July 14 at 7:32 p.m., Officer Quentin Tavares and Officer Jason Cooke were dispatched to Longhorn Steakhouse at 400 Bald Hill Road for a report of an intoxicated male. Dispatch advised that mall security was out with the male and that he had frequented the mall multiple times. The male is known to have a no-trespass order as well as a possible warrant.

Upon arrival, Cooke met with mall security and the male, who was identified as Ronald Dufour, 61, listed as homeless. Cooke said he appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, as he was swaying and his speech was slurred. His eyes were bloodshot and watery.

Dufour told Cooke he went inside the restaurant and wanted to order some food. The manager asked him to leave due to his level of intoxication. Cooke said mall security informed him they had recent contact with Dufour and that a few weeks ago a no-trespass order was issued to him from the property.

Cooke said checks were run on Dufour and an active no-trespass order was confirmed. It was issued on July 1. It was also advised Dufour had a pending warrant.

Based on the fact Dufour was on mall property and there was a complaint from mall security, he was taken into custody and transported to Warwick police headquarters, where he was processed and later released with a summons. Due to Dufour’s level of intoxication, he was transported to Kent Hospital.

MARIJUANA

On July 19 at 3:07 p.m., Officer Stephen Major was dispatched to the area of Balise Toyota in reference to a man down. It was determined that man was heavily intoxicated and Warwick fire arrived on scene to transport him to Kent Hospital.

As emergency vehicles attempted to clear the scene, with emergency lights activated, Major said a brown 2014 Honda Accord bearing Connecticut registration went left of the double yellow line and went into oncoming traffic to pass the emergency vehicles. At that time, around 3 p.m., Major said there was very heavy traffic in the area.

After pulling the vehicle over, Major said he approached the operator, who was later identified by her Connecticut license as Marissa E. DiGioia, of 123 Vinton St., Providence. Major said he immediately detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana.

DiGioia reportedly said she went left of the double yellow lines in order to not hit any of the emergency vehicles. Major said it should be noted Post Road is a four-lane road with two lanes north and two lanes south. The emergency vehicles had taken up the right hand lane but not the left hand northbound lane, which is the lane DiGioia left and went into oncoming traffic, as opposed to letting the emergency vehicles merge in by slowing or stopper her vehicle.

DiGioia was issued a citation for right half of road, with an $86 pay-by-mail fine and/or a municipal court date. She was also issued a citation for possession of marijuana (one ounce or less, 18 years or older) with a Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal court date. The marijuana, which field-tested positive, was seized. It consisted of four marijuana cigarettes.
