DUI

On Feb. 24 at approximately 1:22 a.m., Officer Jamey A. Petit reports responding to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Greeley and Main avenues. Dispatch advised that the vehicle involved had been witnesses striking an object in the roadway and attempting to leave the scene.

Upon arrival, Petit reports observing a white 2016 Kia Optima with Rhode Island registration with heavy damage to both driver’s side wheels. The vehicle was reportedly facing eastbound in the right westbound lane. It appeared that the vehicle had crossed the center line while traveling east and struck the curb on the westbound side.

Petit made contact with the vehicle’s operator, observing her to have slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and a moderate odor of alcohol emanating from her breath. The operator is said to have acknowledged drinking that night and declined medical attention.

The operator is then said to have agreed to undergo field sobriety testing, which she reportedly failed.

Julieanna Naylor, 30, of 935 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence and transported to Warwick Police headquarters. She is said to have agreed to a chemical breath test, which reportedly found her blood alcohol content to be significantly above the legal limit.

Naylor was issued a summons to appear in Third Division District Court on a charge of driving under the influence.

On Feb. 26 at approximately 5:05 p.m., Officer Frank J. Montanaro was patrolling with another officer on Airport Road when they observed a white sedan that was pulled forward in a parking space and obstructing the sidewalk. The officers then heard a male party waving his arms and yelling for the officers to stop.

The man told the officers that the female operator of the white sedan, which bore Mississippi registration plates, appeared to be heavily intoxicated. A female party then told officers the vehicle in question had just pulled out of the parking lot heading east.

The officers located the vehicle making a right turn, without a signal, from Airport Road into the parking lot of hangar three at 530 Airport Road. The vehicle then parked and officers approached the operator, who had exited the vehicle.

The woman reportedly told the officers she was en route to an alcohol treatment facility. The officers reportedly observed a strong odor of alcohol emanating from the woman’s breath. She was also described as having bloodshot, watery eyes and slurred speech.

The woman is said to have agreed to undergo field sobriety testing, which she reportedly failed

Paula M. Cenkovich, 55, of 32 Draper Way, Attleboro, Massachusetts, was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence and transported to Warwick Police headquarters. She is said to have later refused a chemical breath test.

Cenkovich was issued a summons to appear in Third Division District Court on a charge of driving under the influence. She was additionally cited for refusal to submit to a chemical test and a turn signal violation.

VANDALISM

On the morning of Feb. 28, Officer Tammy J. Mello reports responding to Apponaug Mini Storage at 111 Meadow St. for a report of malicious damage.

At the scene, the storage site’s manager told Mello that on Feb. 25, she arrived at the facility and found that locks had been cut from the doors of five storage areas. The customers utilizing those storage areas were advised, although none reported any items missing.

On March 4 at 9:53 a.m., Officer Christopher R. Cote responded to the Hillcrest Condos at 3495 Post Road for a report of vandalism to a vehicle.

At the scene, Cote observed a red 2018 Hyundai Kona with its front passenger-side window smashed and the glove box open. The vehicle’s owner told Cote he had parked at approximately 7:30 a.m. on March 3 and did not go out for the rest of the day. He noticed the window had been smashed when he went out to shovel at approximately 9 a.m. on March 4. He told Cote that nothing appeared to have been stolen from the vehicle.

“It appeared that the suspect or suspects were not attempting to steal anything from the vehicle, but rather steal the rims and tires,” Cote wrote in his report. “The vehicle’s tires had a locking lug nut, and [the owner] did not keep the key in the glove box and had it hidden in another location in the vehicle.”

LARCENY

On Feb. 22 at approximately 8:40 a.m., Officer Daniel J. O’Connell responded to a Main Avenue residence for a report of a larcency.

At the scene, the reporting party told O’Connell that a red and gray Honda 7000 portable generator – estimated to weigh 250 pounds and have a value of $5,000 – was missing. The generator had been affixed to a food service truck parked in the reporting party’s driveway. The vehicle had been parked at approximately 5 p.m. on Feb. 21, and the reporting party noticed the generator was missing at approximately 8 a.m. on Feb. 22.

The reporting party was advised to contact the company from which the generator was purchased in order to locate its serial number. A canvass of the neighborhood produced no additional information.
