LARCENY

At approximately 5:45 p.m. on March 29, Officer Maxwell A. Neiley responded to the front lobby of Warwick Police headquarters for a party reporting missing FedEx packages.

The reporting party told Neiley that on March 26, he received electronic notification from FedEx that three separate packages – with a combined valued of approximately $900 – had been delivered to his home address. Upon arriving back to his home, the reporting party said he found the packages were missing. Checks with FedEx revealed the packages had not been returned to the company’s headquarters, the reporting party said.

There were no suspects and no witnesses to the apparent theft, according to Neiley.

SHOPLIFTING

Shortly after 9 a.m. on March 29, Officer Nicholas J. DiNardo responded to the Kohl’s location on Bald Hill Road for a report of a shoplifting in progress. Dispatch advised the suspect was described as a man wearing a blue jacket and carrying a black backpack. Loss prevention personnel from the store had followed the suspect to an adjacent parking lot, where police took him into custody without incident.

A loss prevention supervisor told police the man had been observed entering the store’s electronics department, removing a set of headphones from its packaging and concealing the merchandise in his pants pocket before exiting the premises. The headphones were valued at $48.99 and were recovered.

Carlton J. Purdy, 46, 41 Home Ave., Providence, was charged with shoplifting and shoplifting as a habitual offender. He was transported to Warwick Police headquarters.

Just before 9 p.m. on March 29, Officer William R. Holz responded to the Walmart location on Bald Hill Road for a report of a shoplifting in progress. Dispatch advised that two suspects – one man and one woman – had been escorted to the store’s loss prevention officer.

At the scene, a loss prevention agent at the store told Holz that the suspects had paid for several items but pushed shopping carts full of additional items past all points of purchase without making an attempt to pay. The loss prevention agent indicated she had observed the male and female suspects separately select merchandise from several areas of the store and place it into their respective carts. Both the man and woman are said to have then proceeded to the self-checkout area, where they allegedly paid for only some of the merchandise before heading to the front exit.

The items that were not paid for in the man’s cart had a total value of $72.49 and were recovered, according to the loss prevention agent. The items that were not paid for in the woman’s cart had a combined value of $70.94 and were also recovered.

James R. McAlees, 28, 31 Davis Road, North Scituate, and Marissa G. Michaeles, 30, 84 Blade St., first floor, Warwick, were arrested and charged with shoplifting. Each was transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing and issued a summons to appear in Third Division District Court.

SUSPENDED LICENSE

On March 26 at approximately 8:43 a.m., Officer Aaron C. Kay was on patrol heading south on Bald Hill Road when he observed a vehicle with a damaged headlight. It appeared the vehicle may have been involved in a recent accident, according to the officer, and a tinted plate cover obscured the vehicle’s registration number.

Kay initiated a motor vehicle stop and noticed, upon closer inspection, that the sticker affixed to the vehicle’s plate indicated its registration was expired. The officer made contact with the vehicle’s operator, who was subsequently found to be wanted on a bench warrant issued from Third Division District Court.

Jason P. Perry, 45, 67 Clay St., first floor, Central Falls, was taken into custody on the warrant and transported to Warwick Police headquarters. He was additionally issued a summons to appear in Third Division District Court on a charge of driving with a suspended license.

WARRANTS

Shortly after 8 p.m. on March 29, Officer Aaron L. Steere was on patrol in the area of Kilvert Street and Jefferson Boulevard when he observed a female subject walking in the eastbound lane of travel on Coronado Road. The officer reports the woman appeared to be staggering, and he initiated a welfare check. A subsequent records check revealed the woman was wanted on a pair of bench warrants issued from Second Division District Court.

Jennifer Lahoud, 49, 200 Old River Road, Lincoln, was taken into custody on the warrants and transported to Warwick Police headquarters.
