Honor flight

Welcoming our vets home

Norwood School sixth graders, who have been writing thank you letters to veterans, turned out Sunday, Nov. 3 to welcome home the 10 World War II veterans who participated in this year’s Honor Flight. Under the program, hosted by the Rhode Island Association of Fire Chiefs, the veterans were flown to Washington, D.C. to visit memorials. During their trip, the veterans were surprised with a Mail Call and were provided with the letters of thanks. The students joined at Green Airport to greet the vets from their daylong trip to D.C. Pictured with the students are Chief Stephen Hay and World War II veteran John E. Jones. (Submitted photo)
