Westbay Community Action seeks board nominees

Posted

A public meeting to elect a low-income representative to the Westbay CAP Board of Directors from East Greenwich has been scheduled for Tuesday, September 19 at 1 p.m. at the East Greenwich Senior Center, 121 Pierce Street, East Greenwich. All are welcome to the meeting to learn about Westbay, vote for an East Greenwich representative or be nominated for election to the board.

Westbay needs candidates with a strong desire to serve the community and a belief in its mission to “assist low-income and disadvantaged residents to achieve and maintain economic self-sufficiency.”

Nominees should be familiar with the needs of the people they will represent; be 18 years of age and over; live or work in the East Greenwich community and serve a three-year term. Nominees do not have to be low-income.

The Westbay Community Action Board meets at 3 p.m. on the last Thursday of each month. It sets agency policies including human resource, organization, fiscal and program. The board establishes the overall program goals and priorities, approves funding requests and insures compliance with all contract provisions and laws.

Nomination papers can be obtained by calling 732-4666 or can be completed at the meeting. Anyone interested can self-nominate or be nominated by another person.
