Where are our values?

It doesn't matter if you're a Christian, Jew, Muslim, atheist, etc…but we should all be totally outraged over what happened at the Crowne Plaza the weekend of February 17-19. (See Beacon February 14, "Reported Orgy at Crowne Plaza Worries Resident.”)

Of course we should worry! All decent-minded folks should be totally disgusted at the thought of the New England Leather Alliance hosting a "party,” taking over the Crowne Plaza completely, paying the Warwick Police to protect them so they can indulge in an orgy!

Where have decency and morals disappeared to? Why is the City of Warwick, the mayor and the police allowing this type of activity to be OK'd in our town? And why would the Crowne Plaza stoop to such an agreement? Is it all about money? In allowing this event to take place at their facility, are they condoning such behavior?

Isn't there a conscience somewhere that stirs a person to ask, "What are our values? How far do we go?" Is this what we want our children to laugh about behind closed doors and think maybe they should "look into this more?”

I'm a 75-year-old grandmother and I've seen a lot of changes over the years. One in particular is the Sexual Revolution. I am thrilled that women have finally been told it's a beautiful thing to enjoy the full meaning of a loving, sexual relationship with her spouse. It's what God intended. But we as a society have gone too far in movies, music and TV to debase sex. Now we have the "Fetish Fair Flea Market" coming into our wonderful city of Warwick to set another example of how perverted we've become.

I for one will ban the Crowne Plaza and its functions. I hope there are others who feel as I do.

Their right to be there and to have the police protect them is in the First Amendment to the US Constitution. Everyone has the right to assemble freely, and their particular form of sexual expression is considered free speech. The article even stated that attendees were not "forced" to attend said "orgy". The Moral Majority died a long time ago. It's time to move on.

This type of perversion is directly attributed to the leftist lunatics who constantly criticize any attempt by conservative groups to stop our society from sliding down the slippery slope. Unfortunately, Pandora's box has been irretrievably opened. The demons are running amuk. We can BOYCOTT the Crown Plaza. If your organization holds something there, try and convince them to change locale. Write a letter to the management. Write the Mayor. Write your councilman.
