William P. “Bill” Byrnes, Sr.

William P. “Bill” Byrnes, Sr., 92, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Joan F. (Milliken) Byrnes for 66 years.

Born in Bristol, he was a son of the late Thomas H., Sr. and Helen M. (Conley) Byrnes. Bill worked as a plasterer for Local 40, Plasterers & Cement Masons Union and Providence Housing Authority, before retiring. A World War II Navy veteran, he served on PT Boats in the South Pacific. Bill was a member of the PT Boaters Assoc. and the American Legion Post 43.

Bill was the loving father of J. Patricia Frazier, William P. Byrnes, Jr. and Kathleen B. Jackson (Dennis); devoted grandfather of: Jeffrey Jackson, Patrick Jackson (Stephanie), Bryan Jackson, and Wenli Frazier; brother of Gertrude Dwyer, and the late Mary Byrnes, Helen Tattrie, Grace Byrnes, Frances Newman, and Thomas H. Byrnes, Jr.

His funeral will be held Monday, June 4, 2018 at 11 a.m. from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon in St. Timothy Church, Warwick Ave. Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours, Sunday, 4-7 p.m.
