WWII in Europe, Atlantic topic of library series

Dr. Stanley Carpenter, Professor of Strategy and Policy at the U.S. Naval War College, will deliver a lecture series on World War II in Europe and the Atlantic at Warwick Public Library on Tuesdays at 7 p.m.

On September 19 he will address the Blitzkrieg, Battles of Poland and France.

On September 26 the topic is Air and Sea and the Battles of Britain and the Atlantic.

On October 3, Carpenter will speak about the Eastern Front and the Invasion of Russia.

On October 10, watch the feature film A Bridge Too Far (1977), starring Sir Laurence Olivier, Robert Redford, Sir Sean Connery and Sir Anthony Hopkins. An Allied plan to end the war by Christmas 1944 meets defeat at the disastrous battle of Arnhem.

On October 17 the focus is on Crushing the Reich: Normandy to Berlin. Dr. Stanley Carpenter is a retired United States Naval Officer and an expert on British Military and Naval History.
