Teresa Nero

Teresa (Terry) Nero, of East View Ave., passed away after a four-year illness. She was the beloved wife for 67 years of Peter R. Nero.

Born in Providence, Terry was the daughter of the late Luigi and Orsola (Velucci) Buonaiuto. She worked for Tacoa Jewelry Co. for 20 years.

Her memories included summer weekends at the Cape. The rest of the year the gang would be found at Twin Oaks only to retreat to her home, where she would feed everyone again and entertain by playing the piano and singing with her friends until the early morning. Terry didn't like sports but prayed the Rosary and her Novenas while her husband rooted for the Yankees.

Terry's passions included cooking wonderful meals and playing music. A self-taught musician, both Terry and her husband played piano as part of their community service for the Hope Alzheimer's Center after her retirement. In 1999 they received community service recognition from the City of Cranston.

Besides her husband she is survived by her loving children, Judy Terry Nero-Sheetz and Peter L. Nero, Assistant Superintendent of Cranston Public Schools, and his wife, Linda; and her grandson, Michael. She was the sister of Phyllis DiNitto and the late Anthony and Peter Buonaiuto. Terry also leaves behind her neighborhood family whose friendship endured for 45 years.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Feb. 12 from Immaculate Conception Church, Oaklawn Ave., Cranston. Burial was private.
