The Kent County YMCA, a branch of the YMCA of Greater Providence, has received funding from the Rhode Island Department of Elderly Affairs to provide camp and childcare opportunities to children in the primary care of a senior citizen, aged 60 or older.

The R.I. Department of Elderly Affairs will provide scholarships for children aged 5 to 16 who are in the primary care of a senior citizen. Participants must be residents of Rhode Island.

Children may participate in YMCA summer day and overnight camp, school vacation activities and after school programs.

The program allows children to enroll in educational, recreational and personal development activities that will enrich their lives while providing primary caregivers with a much-needed break to address their own needs.

To find out more, ask a Y staff member at the Kent County YMCA Welcome Center or call 828-0130. For more information, visit www.vmcaqreaterprovidence.orq.
