Princess R. (Crowell Rock) “Penny” Skidds, 83, of Concord, Mass., formerly of Cranston, died August 26, 2009 at the Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley. She was the wife of the late Edward Rock and of the late Bernard N. Skidds. Born in East Greenwich, a daughter of the late George Brayton Crowell and Mary Bernadette (Poirier) Crowell, she was raised in Providence. She was a 1943 graduate of Central High School, Providence, and Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School and worked as a legal secretary for the former Law Office of Otis and Knowles. She moved to Cranston in 1976 and Concord in 2005. She was a communicant of the Church of St. Mark in Cranston and was a volunteer at McAuley House in Providence for several years. She leaves two daughters, Helen Leclerc of Canton de Shefford, Quebec, Canada and Vivian Skidds of Louiseville, Quebec; four sons, Brian Rock of Madison Conn., Alan Rock of Boxborough Mass., Brian Skidds of St-Luc Sur Richelieu, Quebec and Gary Skidds of Magog, Quebec; five granddaughters, Chelsea Rock of Maryland, Anna Rock of Massachusetts, Celine LeSage, Annie Tessier and Catherine Skidds of Quebec; six grandsons, Peter Rock of Massachusetts, Luc Tessier, Patrick Tessier, David Skidds, Daniel Skidds and Philippe Skidds of Quebec; her great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Amelie LeSage and Laurence, Kelly-Ann and Noemie Prince and Raphael and Melia Skidds, all of Quebec; a brother, Richard E. Crowell of Cranston and Naples, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Edith C. Rock and Lynn C. Zienowicz, and her brothers, Edward C. Crowell and Robert A. Crowell. The funeral was held Aug. 29 from Woodlawn Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of St. Mark, 9 Garden Court, Cranston.
