Are you looking for a lively and free musical night out? On Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m., the acoustic jazz duo Ten Strings will perform at the Warwick Public Library. Ten Strings is comprised of Dennis Pratt who plays upright bass and David Spadazzi on guitar. Guest drummer Ryan Tremblay will join Ten Strings for the evening. This year, Ten Strings will focus on the music of Brazilian musician Antonio Carlos Jobim, considered by many to be the father of the Bossa Nova. This free program is supported by The Friends of the Library.

Jobim (1925-1994), born in Rio de Janeiro, was a Grammy Award-winning songwriter as well as a composer/arranger, a singer, a pianist and a guitarist. While he was immensely popular in Brazil, he became more widely known when he collaborated with American saxophonist Stan Getz. Their first album, Getz/Gilberto, released in 1963, created a worldwide craze for the Bossa Nova.

Dennis Pratt who lives in Warwick has performed with many of the leading New England jazz musicians including Yvonne Monett, Artie Cabral and Matthew Quinn. A graduate of the Berklee College of Music, he is a former Navy Band musician. He teaches at Community College of Rhode Island. David Spadazzi also graduated from Berklee and taught there as well. He also taught at Dean Junior College. He was a member of the Marine Band in Washington, D.C. and today owns Chepachet Music. Drummer Ryan Tremblay will provide a Latin backbeat for the evening’s music.

The Library is located at 600 Sandy Lane. This event is free but registration is necessary. Call 739-5440, ext. 126 to register.
