Sargent Center hosts brain injury education series

Sargent Rehabilitation Center will hold a Brain Injury Education Series tomorrow for survivors of traumatic brain injury, stroke, aneurysm or tumor, as well as for family members and professionals who are working on behalf of survivors. There is no cost to attend the workshop.

This Wednesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. the topic of Pharmacological Issues after Brain Injury will be highlighted by Stephen T. Mernoff, MD, Chief, Neurology Section, Providence VA Medical Center; Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurosciences, The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University; Director, Neurorehabilitation Program, Rehabilitation Hospital of Rhode Island; and Diplomate, American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Mernoff will discuss medications used in the treatment of Traumatic Brain Injury in the acute, post-acute, and chronic phases of recovery. He will also discuss the potential implications of the use of medications for other indications in patients with traumatic brain injury.

The series has been made possible with grant support from the RI Department of Human Services. Those interested must register by calling Sargent Center at 401-886-6600.
